Vietnam // Simplified requirements to obtain work permit

The Vietnamese authorities have recently released a resolution (105/NQ-CP issued on 9 September 2021) simplifying conditions that one must meet to apply for a work permit.

,

This aims at supporting businesses, badly impacted by the Covid-19 crisis and travel restrictions. Government wishes to avoid losing local investment of foreign companies, by removing a number of obstacles on the road to successful corporate immigration.

,

The key changes cover, among others:

  • the need for legalization of applicant’s passport, that is being removed;
  • the 3-year work experience, that now just need to be relevant to the job position. Previously, it needed to be also connected to the trained field, making the diploma and the experience closely related, when some have considerable experience in a field they were not trained on at school.
  • the possibility to transfer a foreign worker in another Vietnamese province for up to 6 months, without applying for a new work permit. A simple notification to the authorities is now sufficient.
